FINAL TEST RUN FOR SEWER LIFT STATION A SUCCESS November 30, 2004, Fairfield, Idaho – The Mill Park Industrial site in Fairfield completed a test run today for a sewer lift station that will support already completed improvements in the city water and sewer system. The successful test caps the completion of an 18 month project that will enable further site development and the locating of new business in this rural community. The completion of this portion of the Industrial site will significantly lower the infrastructure costs to businesses seeking to locate here. Mayor David Hanks was on hand during the test and is earlier quoted as saying, “this industrial park is the future lifeblood of this City.” Rex Harding of JUB Engineers, Rhonda Merritt of USDA Rural Development and representatives from Challenger Companies Inc. were also on hand for the test. USDA Rural Development provided 2 grants for a total of $48,000 to complete these needed infrastructure improvements thereby increasing job opportunities in Fairfield. |

MAYOR'S COMMENT'S FOLLOWINGCOMPLETION OF THE MILL PARK BUSINESS SUBDIVISION Hello! Thank you, thank you very much to everyone that helped to contribute to this vital community effort. A special big pat on the back goes out to Rhonda Merritt of USDA Rural Development, Rex Harding of JUB Engineers, and Boni Peters our city clerk for their efforts that stretched way beyond the call of duty and are too numerous to mention. Titan Technologies, the excavation sub-contractor also deserves recognition for their 'donated' extra work. I also need to thank our City Council members, Terry Lee, Scott Marolf, Doug Hoskinson and Kenny Lee, as well as Carl Rey and Steve Miller for their foresight and determination to get this project started. It has been a long and difficult road and without all of your assistance, drive, energy and commitment this project and the Mill Park Subdivision would not have been possible. Even though we have achieved this milestone, with a few commitments from businesses looking at locating here we will still be in need of funding assistance. The ability to move sewer out of the Mill Park Subdivision and to bring water in are now complete, but we still do not have the infrastructure complete within the subdivision. The City of Fairfield will still need your assistance with water, sewer and telecommunications within the park. If anyone has any creative solutions for a very committed community please contact me. Like the article states, I firmly believe that the Mill Park Subdivision will be the driving force of our city economy and a significant potential job creator for Camas County to the tune of potentially 100+ jobs. It will keep our great city alive and help our established struggling businesses, their families and employees to remain here and be successful. As many of you know we are experiencing a tremendous growth in new home construction and subdivision proposals. There are also an increasing number of serious inquiries into land and business possibilities within the Mill Park Subdivision. We have recently completed a Medical Services Clinic that provides medical and dental services to Camas County. Our community has just finished construction of a new Senior Community Center and the construction of our new Camas County School is on target for a spring completion. All of this, coupled with the new folks that are joining our community, convinces me, more than ever, that we are doing the best thing to secure our future by creating a sustaining rural economy that will bring people and jobs that are community minded and give our children an opportunity to stay and work here if they so choose instead of being forced to work elsewhere. Again, a big thank you to all who have been involved in this project, you have made a difference and I look forward to working with you in the near future!! Sincerely, P.S. The City of Fairfield will be having a Christmas tree lighting ceremony on December 10th at 5:45pm in the pocket park located on Soldier Road between Willow and Camas if anyone is interested. Hot Chocolate, Apple Cider and cookies will be provided as well as some great local community entertainment! |
